Christmas songs from scratch

On Thursday 18 December, we are organising a festive sing-along with former members, friends and family. It will take place in our new rehearsal space, the Muziekschool Amsterdam, entrance on Manegestraat. It promises to be an atmospheric evening, full of familiar and surprising Christmas carols such as Hark! The Herald Angels, Sing God Rest You Merry, Gentlefolk and O Zalig, Heilig Bethlehem, with the participation of vocal ensemble Klank from Bussum and Gerrie Meijers on the piano. If you would like to sing along, we expect you at 7.30 p.m. Listeners are welcome at 8.30 p.m. Afterwards, we will enjoy a glass of hot chocolate or mulled wine together.

Admission is free, but please register before 1 December at  secretariaat@galakoor.nl and let us know if you want to sing along, so we can provide enough sheet music.

 

 

Welcome to Galakoor!

Galakoor Queer Klassiek is the only LGBTI + chamber choir in the Netherlands.

The choir was founded in 2013 in imitation of the international GALA choruses, to unite queer choristers in their passion for classical music, including the latest classical repertoire. In addition to a community function, Galakoor strives for a high musical level, in which we continuously connect with external partner organizations, fellow choirs, ensembles and locations, nationally and internationally.

We focus primarily on singers with choral experience, but if you are starting with the ambition and commitment to grow quickly, then you are certainly welcome. After an initial acquaintance and attending one or two rehearsals, a voice test will be part of the admission. Rehearsals are held every Thursday evening from 8 pm to 10 pm in the Muziekschool Amsterdam, location Centrum-Oost (Nieuwe Kerkstraat 122), under the direction of Nathan Tax.
